Bail Bonds

While awaiting court, a defendant may have the option of forgoing time on jail or prison and stay at their residence. This decision is made by the judge at the hearing of the case, and the ruling judge can set forth a monetary amount, a bail amount, which the defendant will pay to be able to avoid jail before a case verdict is made.

This amount is referred to as bail bonds. The bond is cemented by the agreement between the court and the accused, and states that the accused will come to court on the agreed upon date.
